Biography
Gaetano Burriesci.s expertise focuses on the definition of transformative healthcare treatments, by applying advanced engineering approaches to the medical device area. This activity entails basic and applied research on biomaterials development and characterisation, physiological systems simulation, structural design optimisation and medical device assessment. He has developed novel cardiovascular implant devices which have now resulted into largely adopted innovative therapeutic solutions, which are significantly contributing to improve patients health and quality of life. Gaetano has established and directs the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Engineering at University College London, UK, and leads the Bioengineering Group at the Ri.MED Foundation, Italy.
